Whale and dolphin watching tours
Mirissa is one of the world’s hotspot for whale and dolphin watching and pods numbering in their hundreds have often been recorded. Species include Blue whales, Sperm whales, Fin whales and the occasional Killer whales too. Dolphin types include Bottlenose, Spinner, Risso’s and Striped. Turtles, Bluefin tuna and flying fish are also regularly seen.

Sightings occur a few miles off Mirissa and the best time to see these glorious animals is early in the morning. Stay with us and you can avoid the 5am rise everyone else has to suffer.

Surfing
Mirissa is a great place to surf, the location of the point between rocks and a hill means its waves are hardly affected by onshore wind. Mirissa also has a beach break ideal for beginners and boogy boarders. It’s less crowded than Hikkaduwa and has all the facilities experienced surfers and newbies need.

Surfing is available directly in front of hotel. We can arrange surfboard hire, lessons with great teachers and whole surfing tours. Check out the latest surf report for Mirissa on Magic Seaweed.

Snorkeling
Snorkle off the local reef and you’ll find an amazing array of fish including lobster, squid and a huge variety of smaller species. Don’t have a snorkle? Don’t worry, we’ll help you hire one.

Safaris
Yala National Park is the second largest national park in Sri Lanka – and the most visited. Elephants, leopards and water buffalo abound and our bespoke tours will help you see many of the other 215 bird species, 44 types of mammal and 46 types of reptile in the park.
